Privacy Policy

SkillSeed (skillseed.net) is a learning website that a school uses so its students can practise Grade 4 English and Arabic. This page explains, in plain language, what information SkillSeed keeps, why, and who can see it.

What we collect

• Account details: name, e-mail address, role (student, parent, teacher or administrator) and class.
• Learning records: the skills a student practises, their answers (right or wrong), Mastery Scores, time spent practising, badges earned, and assignments.
• Profile picture (optional): only if the user uploads one. It is resized to a small image.
• Sign in with Google (optional): if someone chooses “Continue with Google”, Google shares their name, e-mail address and profile picture address with SkillSeed. We use the name and e-mail only to identify the account. We do not get access to Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.
• Preferences: language, sound and theme settings, kept in the browser and the account.

We do not collect location, contacts, phone numbers or payment information. SkillSeed shows no advertising and does not track users across other websites.

Why we use it

• To let students log in and practise, and to show them their progress, next steps and badges.
• To let teachers see how their students are doing in the subjects they teach, and set assignments.
• To let parents follow their own children’s progress.
• To let the school’s administrators manage accounts, classes and content, and keep the site secure (including a log of important administrative changes).

Who can see what

• Students see their own information. On the optional class challenge, classmates see only a first name and initial, and a student can hide their name.
• Parents see only the children linked to their account.
• Teachers see marks only for the subjects they teach.
• School administrators can see and manage all accounts and records for the school.
• Profile pictures are private: only the student, their teachers, their parents and the administrators can see them.

These rules are enforced by the database, not just by the website’s screens.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share personal information with advertisers or other companies. Information is stored and processed by the services that run the website: Supabase (database, logins and file storage) and Netlify (website hosting). Google is used only when someone chooses to sign in with Google.

Keeping information safe

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are never stored in readable form. Access is controlled by role, and important administrative changes are logged.

How long we keep it

Information is kept while the account is in use by the school. The school can ask for an account and its learning records to be corrected or deleted at any time.

Children

SkillSeed is designed for primary-school students and is used under the supervision of their school. Student accounts are created or approved by the school. Parents can ask the school to see, correct or delete their child’s information.

Your choices

• Remove your profile picture at any time on your profile page.
• Turn sounds off, and hide your name on the class challenge.
• Ask the school to correct or delete your information.
